Remember when?

A year ago Bokeh went to his first ever disc event. You can see the videos and read about it HERE. Well, can you believe one year has passed already and it was time for the JaMuary event again? This time mom and I got to go with dad and Bokeh.

Dad and Bokeh entered the Professional division and actually came in 4th place for Freestyle. That is awesome considering most of the people doing it have been doing this for years and Bokeh and dad just started about a year ago.

Here is Bokeh's first round of 4 - 20. They are allowed only 4 disc and 20 seconds to show off their moves. Check out the air he got on the back vault.

Then he also did Toss and Fetch. He got messed up because dad threw the first one into the gate and Bokeh couldn't get it. Silly dad forgot he could go help him.

Trial

So after the awful week we have had we decided to get our minds off of things and go to the trial that we already scheduled. It was in Dayton and on dirt. There were not many Q's (Qualifying scores) coming from the standard ring at all. But I pulled off a Q and earned 13 more points towards my MACH. Mom and dad were so proud of me. Oh yeah, my dad's mom and dad were there to. Dad's mom was going around telling people I was her Granddog, BOL. Grandma took pics of me, but she hasn't sent them over yet. Once she does I will share them with you.

Then it was time for my JWW course. No Q in this one, I got a little confused in the middle and went around a jump instead of over it.

This is Christina, Sagira's mom. First off, I just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciated all the comments and condolences of the sudden and very tragic loss of my father. January 18, 2012, will be a day that I never forget. I am trying to be strong and here for my mom as all of our lives have now changed. My mom and dad both worked at Walmart in Port Clinton. My dad chose to end his life in the Walmart parking lot before his shift started. His car then accidentally caught on fire. The people were running around looking for my dad in the store to tell him that his car was on fire and had no idea he was actually in the burning car. They didn't realize there was a body in the car until after the fire was put out. The people at Walmart have just been AMAZING to our family. Weds. morning they brought over a care pack to my mom's house. They gave us so much food, snacks, drinks so that all the company coming in would have something to eat. My dad is the oldest of seven boys so it is a pretty large family. The HR department came to my mom's house to fill out paperwork for her. They also worked with the Columbus store (where my brother works) and did his paperwork for him as well. Sunday evening we had a memorial for my dad. Walmart catered the event. Walmart has also offered the family counseling if we need it. Walmart is also going to dig up the burned parking space that my dad parked in every morning and plant a tree for him and place a bird feeder there. My dad used to feed the seagulls so much on his lunches that the birds knew his car. I just want to thank all the kind and loving people at Walmart for helping us make it through this tragic event.

Next on my list, I want to thank Frankie, Sarge and The OP Pack for sending us cards during this difficult time. That was so sweet of you all to do and much appreciated.

Bokeh started his first agility class at our training club now that he is old enough to jump.

The biggest hurdle that Bokeh had was the weave poles. He has never seen weave poles before. But just after a few times of the instructor standing on one side and Bokeh on the other he became a pro at them. Here is a short video of him in the channel weaves for the first time. Sorry not the best he was across the room from where we can watch.

My friend Maggie from our training club got a new sister. Her name is Stella. I got to meet her last Friday. I took her a new toy and some treats to welcome her to the club.

Isn't she cute? They think she is a part Schnauzer and part Aussie.

She was kind of scared at first. But I was real nice to her and told her the training club is LOTS of fun and she will get LOTS of treats. By the end of the night I think she liked it there.

Bokeh had to go back to the Rascal Unit to have a heart worm test to make sure he doesn't have any icky worms before registering to be a therapy dog. It was snowing out, can you tell?

These all came before Christmas, I am just behind on posting. :)

We received some more toys in the mail from our good pals, Frankie & Ernie. Frankie & Ernie sent us a squirrel and a rabbit to play with.

Our friends Razzle and Jura also gave us a gift bag during the Christmas potluck. When we got home we found a Snowman (did you read that Frankie?) and a Christmas bone. They both squeaked and were so much fun to play with

Remember my new harness?

Well someone had to copy me and get HIS own harness. Well...not really. Mom and dad found out that Bokeh actually has a "soft esophagus". So any time he is walking he will choke himself really easy. They thought one of these harnesses would be nice for him. We have special labels on order that say "BOKEH" and "DISC DOG" where it currently says Julius K9. Can't wait to get our labels.

Bokeh is just starting to learn how to do agility like me. He isn't allowed to run the big courses yet but is allowed when they set up a Jumpers course. Christmas day was so much fun. We had SO many people over. We had a brunch at our house and boy oh boy did I enjoy that. I spent most of my day in the kitchen area and everyone was feeding me. Mom said I gained about 5 pounds just in one day from all the stuff people was giving me. But how can these resist my baby blues?

The camera didn't really pick it up but my whole nose about 2" up was red from Marzetti water. BOL

We had a Christmas agility pot luck at our training club. It consisted of yummy food for the humans (of course I had to beg and got some) and agility run throughs and a pressie exchange.

Boys turn

It was the boys turn to go to the VET. Mom and dad chose to take them to a new place called the Rascal Unit for their vaccines this time. Rascal Unit just built a brand new facility that is going to be open 24/7 and take emergency cases, etc. They also do low cost spay and neutering as well. Mom couldn't get over how much cheaper it is than going to our normal vet (who we love) but just couldn't afford this time around. We paid $62 for both Harley and Bokeh to get their rabies, bordetella, DHLPP and office visits. We would have paid nearly that in just an office visit for one of the boys at the regular vet. Anyhoo....Bokeh is perfectly fine, good weight, teeth look nice. We did get some bad news about Harley though. Harley has been walking a bit funny so we asked them about that. We thought it was just arthritis since he is going to be 14 in just a few days but the vet told us that he has a large tumor on his back leg. She said that with his age and location of the tumor surgical removal isn't recommended. So...we are just hoping that it isn't a fast growing tumor and Harley will have more time with us.

Yeahh....Snow has arrived finally. (Mom isn't too happy but I love the snow)

I also wanted to take a moment and thank all my friends who have stuck with me. Mom has been placed on mandatory overtime as most know and I don't get to comment every day like I used to. Some of my friend have went away and I sure do miss hearing from them because I LOVE getting comments. We do the best we can to catch up on everyone during the weekend and sorry you receive so many comments all at once. I am very thankful to have all of my wonderful blog friends in my life.

haha ...Sit Stay had a contest on Facebook yesterday for who could do the best Conga line. Looks like we won. WHOO HOO...this was so much fun because dad was giving us lots of treats. Poor dadster had a cold but mom asked him nicely if they could please give it a try and good thing because we won. What did we win? Mom and Dad are "BzzAgents". They signed up for a new project for Canvas Prints by Meijer. They received 1 free canvas print each to try out. Mom and dad said how easy this was to do. They just put the photos they wanted on their SD card, took it to Meijer, put it on their computer and picked that they wanted an 11x14 Canvas Print and it was ready the next day by noon. They turned out really nice.

Yep...I'm good! Mom wanted this one as a canvas print because this is a photo of me earning my first ever agility title and it means a lot to mom.

Who is running with me?

So mom and dad made the mistake of never letting anyone run me in agility when I was younger. Now I only like to run with dad. But one of my favorite people, Cindy, from the training club has been working on getting me to run with her. Here is a video of me running a course with her for the first time. I wasn't too sure about this but mom and dad seem to think it would be good if I would run for others in case dad hurts himself or gets sick at a trial or something.

We have a therapy dog again!

Momster is so excited to announce that we have a therapy dog in the family again. Bokeh passed his TDI test last weekend. Dad put together a video of Bokeh taking his TDI test for those who would like to see what all you have to do during the test. Enjoy!

Super Sad day

We just heard the news about our friends over at Kissa-Bull had a house fire last night and lost their home and five of their seven dogs. My heart goes out to them, I can't even imagine the pain they must be feeling right now. Mom has been crying because she feels so bad for the family that has already been through so much.

Guess who weighs 52 pounds instead of only 27!

It is sweet Luka!

Look at how beautiful she is

We just received an update from her foster family. They told us that Luka is doing well she is up to 52 pounds now. Only another 5-10 to go and she will be at her ideal weight. Her swollen foot is now completely healed. She went in last week to have her stitches removed from her spay prior to us bringing her into the rescue. Her trust is building with people and she is a very sweet girl. Now...for the extra great news. Luka has a forever family waiting to adopt her. She will be moving to her forever families home shortly. We wish you many happy Weim wishes sweet Luka.

We went to my training club's agility Christmas run through and pot luck. It was so much fun. I will be posting photos and telling you more about that later.

My little brother, Bokeh, is taking his Therapy Dog exam today. I have been trying to help him study and be a good boy. Cross your paws that he passes. Mom is pretty nervous.

On a side note....mom and dad had our roof replaced 2 years ago after a bad wind storm ripped a huge hole in it. Well....now we have a leak in our living room ceiling. The new roof guy went up and broke the following news to us "the other roofer used old materials" and "didn't know what he was doing, there is no pattern to the way he put down the shingles" and "he didn't even vent the roof, you always have to have a vent on your roof". So now mom and dad have to come up with LOTS of green papers to pay for these repairs. Mom just wants to cry, she doesn't understand how someone could really screw you over that way. She tries to be nice and do good things and gets this in return. Poor momster...but hopefully the new roof guy can get it all taken care of for us.

Weimaraner Wednesday

First of all, I would like to thank each and everyone of you that sent good thoughts, donations and prayers to Luka. Luka is a survivor and she proves it each and every day. You saw the photos from when we picked Luka up only weighing 27 pounds. Well look at beautiful Miss Luka now.

Amazing what a few weeks of love, food, care and attention will do for a girl huh?

The latest update I have on Luka is that she had to go back in for surgery about a week ago. When they spayed her (before we picked her up) they used some sort of metal sutures on her. They were never removed and were rubbing on her causing a lot of irritation. We took her in and had those removed and replaced them with better sutures. While she was under they cleaned her teeth. They said 1/2 her mouth looked really nice and the other 1/2 looked like she has chewed her way out of something. So now she has a nice clean mouth. She also had a swollen foot. She had some infection in her foot so they drained it. Her foster family told us that it looking a lot better and the swelling is now all gone.

Again, thank you SO very much to all who helped out Luka. Each and everyone of you helped in your own special way and we truly appreciate all your kind hearts.

Gotcha Day

So Trupanion Pet Insurance is having a contest and want people to tell them about their Gotcha Day. Well....you see I came to my house as a foster pup. Mom and dad always said no more dogs so they decided to foster. Mom knew as soon as she met me that she loved me. It was truly love at first sight. She talked dad into letting her foster me and well...you can say the rest is history. They broke their no adoption policy and adopted me. I am so happy they did because I have a great time here with my brothers and sister. Mom was so excited when they told the rescue group that they would like to adopt me. They could actually pick out a name and really get attached to me. They took me out that night and bought me a new collar and some new puppy toys.

We have been busy

Wow, we have been busy going from store to store. First we got to go shopping to buy Frankie, Ernie and Sarge some new toys and treats. Then today we went shopping for my Secret Santa from Jazzi's blog. We got to go shopping for Oskar, that was so much fun. Then later today we went to Mutts and Co to go shopping for Starr's Secret Santa, we can't say who that one is yet because we don't know if they read our blog or not. But we have had so much fun, except yesterday when momster was trying to take photos of us hopping and the camera dropped and hit the floor and is now DEAD. RIP Mr. Camera you have given us many memories.

It is my 3rd Blogoversary. Never did I expect my blog to turn into this, I just started it three years ago to keep track of my therapy dog adventures and now look at it. I have met SO many wonderful friends that I am SO very thankful for and have so many great memories on my blog.

Last week at the agility trial I told you that I might get to see my friend Frankie, his new brother Ernie and Sarge's mom. Well, they showed up and we had so much fun. Frankie brought me some delicious home made turkey jerky. Mom made me share it with Bokeh, Starr and Harley. They all loved it as well.

Sorry we don't have many good photos. Mom was trying not to use her flash in the building because she didn't want to cause any distractions with the agility ring.

This is our friend Bling. She is actually a cousin of Bokeh's. Isn't she cute? We just love when we get to have playdates with her.

Well her mom bought her this super cool harnes that she "blinged" out, isn't it cute? They are great for running agility because you just pop them off and you are ready to run. Well, mom and dad have been wanting to get me one but they are a bit pricey. They found out that Bling's mom wanted to sell hers to get Bling a smaller one. So guess what....

a sale was made and I now have some of my very own Bling Bling. haha. Mom and dad even ordered me a new name tag for the side because you can change them to say whatever you want so they ordered me a pink glitter "SAGIRA" and "AGILITY" for the other side. How neat huh? I think pink is my color.

Weimaraner Wednesday (GRAPHIC RESCUE PICS)

Just wanted to give those faint of heart a little warning that these pics are hard to see. As you know my mom volunteers for Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. A few weeks ago they received a call from animal control in IN that they picked up a very emaciated Weimaraner. One of the adoption coordinators went to work right away and within a few hours this sweet girl, Luka, was at a vet's office being checked out. Her labs came back so high that the vet said he has never seen them so high on a dog that was still alive. Even though Luka has been through hell and back mom hears that she is such a sweet girl and anyone that comes in contact with her just falls in love with her. When the rescue got her she weighed only 27 pounds.

We normally don't ask our friends to donate but we feel Luka is a very special case. If anyone would like to donate towards Luka's vet bills a Chip In account has been set up for her and is on the right hand side of my blog, donations can also be made by visiting the rescues gift shop or by mailing a check payable to Louisville Weimaraner Rescue, 16810 HWY 62, Charlestown IN 47111. If you want your donations to go for Luka's care, please make a note on your donation. Any donations in excess of her treatment cost will be moved over to help care for other Weims in the rescue.

Luka is now in a foster home, she is gaining weight and learning what it is like to not be starved to death and to actually be loved and cared for.

Day 2 of the Trial

This is one of the best agility days we have ever had. Started out by having a great clean and fast run in Standard. Earned a Q and 18 MACH points (that is the most I have ever earned at one time, actually up until today I only had 11 total points).

Here is my first run of the day

Then we moved over to JWW and guess what.... I got a Q there making this my first ever DOUBLE Q!!!!!! I also earned another 4 MACH points for a total of 22 in one day, can you believe it? I keep telling dad it is the hot dog power. He should feed me nothing but hot dogs all the time.

Bokeh got to come with us today and he did great. He had to stay in his crate while I ran but he got to enjoy 2 peanut butter filled Kongs to make sure he stayed quite and it worked.

Trial Day 1

I had an agility trial this weekend. Saturday was so much fun because not only did I have the trial but I got to see my blog pal Frankie again. It was so much fun to see him again and I also got to meet his new brother Ernie. I also got to meet Sarge's mom, she was so nice. I will tell you more about my visit with them in a few days.

Saturday I had my standard run first. I started off pretty good but then dad forgot to tell me to jump a jump so I missed it and went in the wrong end of the tunnel (all dad's fault I tell you). So I didn't get a Q in my standard run but I had fun.

Later that day I had my Jumpers with weaves (JWW) run. Frankie and Ernie were there to cheer me on and they were GREAT cheerleaders because I got a Q! So that makes my 4th leg towards my MXJ title. WHOO HOO plus I was under time by 6 seconds so I earned 6 more MACH points. If you watch the video you have to watch me do my weaves, I was SO slow and I completely stopped at one point to make sure mom was filming me. Bha haa...mom didn't think I was going to Q because I wasn't focused from the start but I had to do good because Frankie and Ernie were cheering me on (thanks boys).

Guess what I'm so excited! I found out that I have an agility trial to attend tomorrow and Sunday. Guess where it is being held...in Zanesville, Ohio. Guess who lives in Zanesville....

My pal Frankie and his new brother Ernie. Mom is super excited and so I am because we get to meet Ernie. I love puppies and so does mom. Plus we get to see Frankie and his mom again. They might even get to see me run my agility if we can get the timing correct.

Guess what else....mom also told me that I am going to get to meet Sarge's mom to. How cool is that?

This weekend is going to be so much fun, I get to run agility and hang out with some of my blogville friends...ah life is great.

Diva's Birthday Pawty

Hey guys, Bokeh here. Just wanted to tell you about a fun time I had. Mom and dad send me to daycare one day a week to help keep me socialized around other dogs and well...to get some of this energy out of me.

Last week mom actually got the date right and I got to attend Diva's birthday pawty at daycare. It was so much fun.

Therapy Training Week 7

This was the last week for Bokeh's therapy dog training. Class was held at an actual nursing home. We arrived (through a wind storm) and Bokeh did great. He loved anyone that would pet him and give him attention.

Bokeh's classmates are taking their TDI test today. We were unable to go because dad is up for election to become a board member of the Southern Ohio Flying K9's and he had to go to a meeting in Dayton today. But we want to wish all of Bokeh's classmates GOOD LUCK, we know you will do great and the world will be a better place with more therapy dogs to make people smile.

Final Birthday celebrations

So the Friday following my birthday mom and dad took only ME to run throughs at the club. I was SO happy to get out of the house without Bokeh. We took come yummy cup cakes and cookies to celebrate my birthday with the club members.

Razzle, Jura and their mom Ellen bought me a cool new squeaky turtle for my birthday. You can see Ellen in the red shirt. She is one of my favorite people at the club. I just love to smile at her and she gives me lots of yummy treats.

and here is my birthday run though (Bert, as you requested more videos of me doing agility). I was running so well this night, dad said my weaves were so fast I even moved the poles during my second run.

Remember how Bokeh and I were selected to be 2 of the 10 new models for Mutts and Co? Well, we have been anxiously awaiting to see some of the photos. When we were at Mutts an Co for their event guess what we found in the store. Some of the test shots! This was our first time seeing any of the photos they took. Bokeh and I are 4th row over from the right, the top 2.

Disc Dog Competition

On Saturday, October 29th, Bokeh and dad left for Kentucky with our friend Matt and his pups Bella and Bazooka and friend Sharon with Bling (car full of mini aussies).

Bokeh did great. His toss and fetch has improved so much by just practicing more at a local park with the longer throws. Bokeh got 2nd place in Novice Toss and Fetch and Freestyle.

Here is the video of him doing his Toss and Fetch. He even got a 5 pointer (WOW!)

and here is his Freestyle. The freestyle isn't pretty because Dad and Bokeh were just not connecting this day and then dad got nervous at the end and starting throwing really bad.

Bokeh also won the costume contest that they had. They had a chant going say Surfer Dog, Surfer Dog. haha

Congrats to Sharon and Bling who one FIRST place Novice Toss and Fetch. Also to Matt with Bella who won 1st place Pro Freestyle and Bazooka who came in 3rd place.

Therapy Training Week 6

So Bokeh had his 6th week of therapy training. Only one more week to go and the last week is in an actual nursing home. I think Bokeh is ready to go and has done a great job. I'm anxious to see how he does in an actual nursing home.

The sixth week of class was held at Polaris mall again. Practiced the same thing we did last week, heeling, sit/stay, down/stay, riding the elevator, walking on different surfaces and of course doing up and saying hi to anyone that wants to say him.

She never thought I would win Mutts and Co again but it was all new judges and they picked me as the best costume out of all the costumes there. Talk about being proud. Unfortunately we don't have any photos of me getting my award or anything because mom had to stay at the rescue booth to try to get some of her pups in rescue adopted out but everyone was clapping for me and stuff, it was so much fun.

We had so much fun, thanks again to Mutts and Co for being so supportive of the rescue groups.

Mutts and Co Part 1

Mutts and Co had their 4th annual Halloween bash. Of course we had to go because last year was so much fun. Mom's rescue group set up a booth. Mutts and Co is great because they are SO rescue friendly. They actually donate all the proceeds made from their Halloween bash to the rescue groups that attend the event. Last year our group received a very nice donation from Mutts and Co.

They were also holding a food drive. Lots of wonderful people were donating food.

Weimaraner Wednesday

So mom just received some of her rescues 2012 Calendars. If anyone needs a new Calendar she has them posted on Ebay HERE. These are nice because each month has one of our previous rescues in it and tells a little about the Weim. This is a fundraiser for the rescue as people bid to have their pups for each month and then we also get the proceeds from the sales of the calendars themselves.

Hey guys, Sagira's mom here. Today is a VERY special day. Our baby girl is FOUR! I wanted to do something special for her today and Jeremy actually helped me out by making a video of some of our memories with the most precious gift we were ever given, Sagira. Sagira has completely changed our lives. She has opened a whole new world to us and has introduced us to some of the best friends and pups around. We are SO very thankful to have Sagira in our lives. Adopting her was the best thing we ever did. She just means the world to me (if you can't tell that, I just adore this girl).

Happy Halloween & Therapy Training Week 5

Happy Halloween to all my blog friends!

So we are on week five of therapy dog training. Class was held at Polaris Mall this time. Normally dogs are not allowed in the mall but the manager gives approval for the therapy dogs in training to come in.

Waiting as we got off the elevator was a lady in a wheelchair. How perfect for therapy training, you would think they planned that or something. But she was happy to help us out and say hi to the dogs

and try to be calm as children play near by and people walk past

Then another lady in a wheelchair stopped. She was watching all of us and then asked if she could pet Bokeh. Happy to let someone say hi.

It was a lot of fun. You should have seen all the people staring as all the dogs walked past them. It was pretty funny. Class there again this week.

Barkin for Batten Part 2

After we got done we went over and watched the cookie walk

Then it was time for best trick contest. Our friend Pebbles went first. She did touch your nose.

and even I joined in. Our friend Michele tried to make me smile...which I did because she was giving me some yummy hot dogs (did ya hear that Junie?)

This pup was funny. Was a magician and made the hot dog disappear. BOL

They had a fun costume contest. Dad didn't want to mess with the pirate costume so he dressed me as a fairy princess. Some of my other friends joined in the fun. This is (L to R) Sassy, Scarlet, Me and Bokeh. Yep...Bokeh has his own costume now, he is a surfer dude, what do you think?

I ended up placing 2nd in the costume contest. Here is a photo of me and my prize.

We had a great time and want to thank them for being so nice to us. I hope they were able to raise some money for the kids and hope they have a better turn out next year.

Barkin for Batten Part 1

We went to an event called Barkin for Batten. This is a great event and I really wish they would get a better turn out. This is their 2nd year and it is for such a great cause.

Great raffles and silent auctions. We were the high bidder on the Petsmart basket this year, had a $75 Gift card and a really cool lamb stuffie that Bokeh and I have already started to destroy. BHAA HAA lamb!

Maggie is a great therapy dog so she went to visit the kids and they really liked that

Our training club was there doing obedience and agility demos. Mom did Bokeh in obedience and he made her look silly. BOL.

Obetz Animal Hospital Open House

One of the local animal hospitals had an open house. They had a costume contest so of course we had to go and check it out. :)

They were giving tours of the hospital

and had some rescue groups there

Sure hope these puppies can find some great homes

They had yummy bake goods

and even had a Chili cook off. Dad had to sample them all.

Dad forgot to get a photo of us in our costumes. Oh well...always next time.

Weimaraner Wednesday

As you know mom volunteers for Louisville Weimaraner Rescue. Well, mom finally had the time to get an Ebay page set up for them. Therapy Training

So Bokeh went to week 4 of his therapy dog training. What a night that was. Traffic was awful because it was raining. Dad got stuck on the freeway so mom had to run over and get Bokeh from daycare before they closed. Mom and dad got home with just enough time to let us all pee and poo and then they ran off again. I was not a happy camper and I actually barked as they were leaving to let them know that. Mom and dad felt so guilty and wish they could take me with them.

Bokeh started out class by learning a key word to tell him what to do. He learned "go say hi" to teach him to walk up to the walker or wheelchair.

They he sat down to be petted

and the he showed his rotten self and jumped up on the walker to get a closer visit, he is a silly boy

Then he got to practice some of his recalls

He did a good job

Then it was time to practice heeling

and then going into a sit

and then heeling

going into a down. We were not sure if he would do this as he hasn't went from a heel to a straight down before but he did great

Next week he is training at Polaris Mall. He will get to learn to ride the elevators, use the steps, meet lots of people. Should be fun.

Frisbee Fun

Grandma and Grandpa bought a new HD video recorder to help us record our competitions. Mom was playing around with it the first day and dad made a video out of it. Not Bokeh's best performance but fun to see it to music. Enjoy!

Last week mom and dad were on vacation so we got to go to Lake Erie to visit with Grandma and Grandpa.
